Protect Your Home and Soft Water System

Did you know you can protect your water softener equipment and your home by understanding how the process works? Let us explain:
Water softener resin beads are tiny, plastic-like beads that contain ions (usually sodium or potassium). As hard water (containing calcium and magnesium) flows through the resin bed, these hardness minerals are attracted to the resin, and the sodium or potassium ions are released into the water, effectively softening it.

When the resin becomes saturated with hardness minerals, it needs to be regenerated with a salt solution to replenish the sodium or potassium ions.
